The story of the Hit 30 Countdown continues this weekend as the show celebrates its 500th edition.
The chart launched back in June 2008 and since then it's loyally counted down the most popular songs of the week, each and every week. The votes which fans have cast, have shaped the chart and made so many regular songs into smash hits.
To mark the 500th episode, the Hit 30 Countdown is on the road to Manchester. Best known for giving us The Smiths and Oasis, but also Joy Division and so many others, Manchester is one of the most signicant centres of musical culture. Leo Andrews has been exploring all the city has to offer and discovering some of the venues and locations which have shaped the music scene in Manchester.
Also coming up in our three hour special, we're winding the clock back and reliving some of the highlights over the last 500 programmes.
