Starwatch: The Eclipse

JUST SO YOU KNOW...

This article is 11 years old

Starwatch returns this March for a special edition as we cover another rare celestial event - the total solar eclipse.

On the 20th March, a total eclipse will pass over the northernmost parts of Europe casting a shadow of darkness. The path of totality travels over some of the most remote parts of the northern hemisphere but we're able to bring you exclusive coverage. Based on location at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, Leo Andrews will be joined by experts to teach you everything you ever wanted to know about eclipses.

From advice on how to view the eclipse safely and information about all the timings, to in-depth interviews with the Royal Astronomical Society, you'll be fully informed about the event. We'll also be talking to visitors, amateur and professional astronomers at the location too. Plus there will be chances for you to contribute on social media.

It's a morning not to miss and it all starts from 0830GMT.

Competition

To mark the eclipse and our coverage from Iceland, we're bringing you a special competition. Up for grabs is a Channel 27 Starwatch goodie bag.
